Dear Members and Colleagues:

As NCSPS President, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting, October 15-17 at THE GREENBRIER… a timeless resort in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains, defining luxury for more than two centuries. I take particular pride in the fact that NCSPS meetings are becoming widely respected throughout our field for their wonderful blend of rich and valuable educational content and a time of family-focused social activities. We always say “there’s something for everyone” and I believe 2010 at The Greenbrier will top them all!

This year’s educational program features a truly stellar group of distinguished speakers: Dr. Timothy Marten (San Francisco) presented under the prestigious “Aesthetic Society’s Traveling Professor” Program; Dr. James Grotting (Alabama) who has served as the ASMS visiting professor, and Dr. Jack Gunter (Texas) who is the Wake Forest Visiting Professor. In addition you will have the opportunity to participate in a series of lively Panel discussions (topics including practice management, and medical missions), hear timely and valuable presentations from NCSPS members and earn Patient Safety credits. In these challenging times that we all are facing, this will be an opportunity to share experiences and discuss practice challenges with fellow plastic surgeons from across the state and region.

2010 also marks an important NCSPS milestone - the 10th Annual Georgiade Award for the best resident research paper. We look forward to hearing this year’s resident presentations.

With afternoons free, there will be lots of time to play and so very many choices of things to do at this magnificent 6,500 acre resort.  The NCSPS Golf Tournament will be held on the famous (and newly-enhanced) Old White course just a few short weeks after the world’s best golfers are there for the PGA tour. On Friday night we’ve got “Blowout in the Bunker”, and whether you are a performer or audience member, karaoke in a secret government underground hideaway will be a surefire hit for all. On Saturday evening, our gala Casino Royale event pays tribute to the suave, Mr. James Bond in celebration of the recent grand opening of The Greenbrier’s elegant Monte Carlo gaming casino. You can enjoy gourmet dining and dancing and then have a chance to top off this memorable night by trying your luck in European splendor.

I want to offer my personal thanks to our many exhibitors and especially to the corporations that provide additional financial support for our meeting. We could not do it without them.

And, finally, won’t you to join me in welcoming our colleagues from the Virginia and South Carolina Societies of Plastic Surgery?  They are taking the opportunity of the NCSPS Annual Meeting at The Greenbrier to expand their own Societies.

The 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting is jointly sponsored by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Autumn at the spectacular Greenbrier…it is going to be a great meeting!

Sincerely,

Lisa David, MD, President 2010
North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons
